Yes, it's another nice old house turned terrific restaurant this time again. And right along busy Sathorn Road at that (the road parallel to Silom Road which is reachable via Saladeang BTS station).
Dan was staying at the new Sathorn Urbana next to it. He complained bitterly about it on the first day and raved positively about it on the next day, which led me to conclude he had a lobotomy he didn't know. Since his legs are not long like mine, he felt we should eat somewhere near i.e. Secret Garden.
This was what he ordered for us as I was busy inspecting the grounds and restaurant. Isn't the kuey pai ti variation cute? And I like the prata combination with the green curry.
I find the crab dish a bit too oily though.
If you have been reading this blog, you would know by now I am partial to big old houses. This one makes you feel they have been decorated the way it is now since day one.
The place was packed for dinner and there was an extended Thai family gathering of about 20 in our section, which is always a good sign. You can also dine on the verandah or al-fresco under a tree, which are non-options for me as I perspire glow easily.
It's cosy and beautifully set up, which is surely no mean feat as I usually throw up at so much purple.
And the cakes may burst your calorie counter BUT you only live once.
It's easy to go there. Alight at Saladeang BTS station, walk along Silom Road, turn into Convent Road and walk till the end of it. You will see the Secret Garden sign winking at you on the opposite side of Sathorn Road.
