It's easy to find any hotel at a good location to stay if you have deep pockets. If you are on a budget, let me recommend this 2-star hotel that is a stone's throw away from Asok BTS. If it's off peak season, you can get a Superior room for USD 25 and a Deluxe room for USD 30!
Why do I practically insists that tourists stay near Asok BTS station, which is a few steps away from Sukhumvit MRT station? This is because there are places that can only be reached by one of the two - BTS or MRT line. If you stay elsewhere, you will have the hassle of changing from BTS to MRT at some point in time for certain destinations. There is also a nice little cafe beside it (above and below pics) as well as the fantastic Chu restaurant that serves great brunches which I had posted earlier.
If you are taking the MRT or BTS, alight at Sukhumvit and Asok stations respectively. From Asok station, walk on the skywalk away from Terminal 21 towards Exchange Tower which is on the left of the skywalk. Go down the stairs on the left and you should walk by the hotel within 100 metres. The entrance is so small you will miss it if you blink. If you see Artis cafe above, you have walked pass it.
